Event Safety

To prepare for participation in live, in person MCMO events, please note the changes to mitigation strategies intended to protect runners, spectators, Marines and staff. During the two live events in 2020, the MCMO allowed participants to remove their masks during the run. However, on January 21, 2021, the Federal government instituted a “mask mandate” for all federal properties. Amplifying guidance issued to the MCMO on February 4, 2021 stated that everyone coming aboard MCB Quantico must meet the following requirements:

MCMO staff and volunteers will remind participants and spectators to keep their masks on. We ask this for the safety of all personnel at the event and so that we may continue to hold events aboard the Base.

To prioritize the health and safety of the MCM running community and staff, we’re taking preventative measures and implementing the following safety guidelines for all in-person events to help mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID–19).

Base Access

In accordance with Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) policy, all runners, volunteers, spectators and sponsors requiring access to the base for the MCM Event Series must have an approved ID and be registered into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), prior to being allowed on base. All individuals, age 18 and above, who do not possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) issued ID card (CAC - Common Access Card & TESLIN – active, retiree, dependent, reserve, individual ready reserve) must register into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and stop by the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to obtain a visitor pass. Passes can be obtained at the VCC up to 14 days in advance of an event. The VCC is closed on Saturdays so plan in advance of an MCM Event Series date to obtain the required access pass.

DBIDS: Please visit the DBIDS site to sign up.

Equipment

This is a completely new event for us (and the MCMO), so Semper Gumby is the word of the day. Be prepared for just about anything. If possible, bring a mobile just in case. Depending on the needs at the finish and at the OSV a crossband will likely be required.

Marc, N1BED is going to bring a cross band and it will run on 445.000 MHz with no tone in the nearest parking lot.

Return to Summary

Operational Parameters

We will plan to operate on simplex at 147.525, the normal ARES operational frequency. We will also have crossband systems at 445.000 MHz, and likely one at XBand 1 (445.950 100.0 Hz).
